SNAP-8 — Research Overview
Also known as: Acetyl Glutamyl Heptapeptide-1, Acetyl Octapeptide-3, Anti-wrinkle octapeptide
An octapeptide analog of the N-terminal end of SNAP-25 — a component of the SNARE protein complex responsible for acetylcholine release at the neuromuscular junction. By competing with SNAP-25 for SNARE complex assembly, SNAP-8 reduces neurotransmitter vesicle docking at the skin surface, attenuating muscle contraction intensity and the formation of expression lines.
